About Euroshareholders

Euroshareholders is the organisation of European shareholders associations. It was founded in 1992 with its General Secretariat in Brussels. At present Euroshareholders gathers 30 national shareholders associations all over Europe and 5 corresponding members from non- EU countries.

The organisation's overall task is to represent the interests of individual shareholders in the European Union.

The main objectives of Euroshareholders are:

* To enhance the performance of individual companies;
* To enhance shareholders' value;
* Guarantee equal treatment of shareholders;
* To protect and represent the interests of private shareholders;
* To support harmonisation at the EU level on appropriate issues.
* To support corporate governance issues at the European level.

In order to fulfil these objectives, Euroshareholders will regularly deliver opinions about issues concerning the shareholder's position, carry out research and arrange for proxy representation of members at the various national annual general meetings.

Currently we have been working on equal treatment of shareholders on the occasion of de-listing and take overs as well as on remuneration of top management, role of independent directors, costs and performance within investments funds, transparency and integrity of capital markets. In order to fulfil these objectives, Euroshareholders regularly delivers opinions about issues concerning the shareholder's position, carries out research and arranges for proxy representation of members at the various national annual general meetings.

One of Euroshareholders' activities is also fighting against insider trading, misleading information and other forms of financial criminality. Many of our members bring themselves cases in court.
